Visibly slimmer in appearance, the TL features trimmed down uppers through reduced cushioning to the collar and tongue, with raw stitched finishing to the edges. The TL construction is lightweight in feel, form-fitting and lined with breathable natural leather which ensures they can be comfortably worn with or without socks, complete with extremely comfortable hand finished Crown Northampton insoles The custom made Crown Northampton sole unit offers strength, durability and comfort all in a lightweight base which is then securely attached with sidewall stitching, allowing for resoling in our factory at a later date if required. Further details include a Crown embossed tongue, premium waxed laces, handwritten internal style notes and an extra set of insoles that can be placed underneath the existing insoles to help tailor the fit if necessary. Handmade to order in Northampton, England.

Calf leather is a very popular choice when ordering our sneakers. Known as a premium grade leather that is firm and even whilst offering a consistent finish across the hide, calf sometimes carries a fine grain or it can be completely smooth depending on the finishing process. Some key features of calfskin are it’s soft and supple feel which makes it ideal for footwear as it can move and flex with the wearer, it’s signature fine grain that gives a high-quality finish, and importantly it’s durability whilst also remaining lightweight. At Crown Northampton, we pride ourselves on only using the finest materials available and we carefully select the ideal calfskin finish and firmness, based on the style that we are making. With our factory located in the world-famous footwear heartland of Northampton, we’re privileged to source leathers from the best leather merchants in England. We only select first-grade calf suede and leather from English tanneries such as CF Stead alongside the finest Italian tanneries.

The four main shoemaking stages once an order is placed...

      Clicking

The ‘clicking’ or cutting process as it is also known is the very start of your shoes being made, the leather is cut into the shapes that make up your silhouette either by hand or on a press.

      Closing

Once all the components of the shoe are cut they go through several processes that are essential to the construction then they are sewn together to make the upper.

      Lasting

A last is a template form that is unique to each shoe size and style, the upper is pulled onto the last to give it the final shape of the shoe ready for a sole to be fitted. Once the sole is fitted the shoe will have it’s complete form.

      Shoe Rooming

The final stage of the factory process your shoes go through the hands of our quality checkers and the finish is applied to the leather or suede to finish the shoe and ensure it looks it’s absolute best.
